Custom Pet Portrait Services

I love painting your pets! I can paint any animal, either plain or with any accessory/item of clothing added on. My preferred surface to work on is a wood panel, but am also happy to paint on canvas if that’s what you prefer. I always paint the edges of the panel/canvas so that it’s ready to hang on your wall without needing to be framed.

Custom Pet Portrait Process

To start the custom portrait process, send me an email detailing what you’re looking for. I’ll need 2-3 high quality photos of your pet, preferably looking straight at the camera. Once we agree on all details, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit before I can get started. I will then send progress pictures throughout, and will check-in with you to make sure everything is looking good.

Painting Timeline

It can take me 1-2 months to complete a commission, depending on several factors — I still work a full-time day job and I have two young children, so I get most of my painting done on weekends. Also, the larger the painting the longer it will take me to finish it. If you have a tight timeline, please let me know immediately and I’ll let you know if I think it’s feasible.

Pet Portrait Prices

Prices can be influenced by many factors, such as size, level of detail, and clothing add-ons, as seen in the below pricing chart. These are pre-shipping costs. Note that if we agree that I can resell the image as prints, cards etc, I will add an additional discount.

FAQs

  • A custom pet portrait takes time and love to bring your beloved animal to life! Pricing all depends on the size, and what kind of image you’re looking for. Please refer to my pricing chart above for a better idea of costs, or reach out to me with your specifics and I’ll give you an exact quote.

  • It all depends on the size and complexity of the painting. The larger it is, the longer it will take. I also have limited time to paint with 2 kids and a full time day job, so that is a factor as well. On average, it takes me 1-3 months to complete a pet portrait.

  • In my opinion, a pet portrait artist should be consistent in their work, have good communication with their clients, and can effectively capture an animal’s unique expressions and charm. Additionally, their work should give you a positive emotional reaction when you look at it.

  • Of course! I pride myself on capturing the unique personalities of animals in my paintings, and in a world filled with cheap low quality art, investing in an high quality original painting made with love is something you’ll be able to cherish for the rest of your life.
