I'm Emma, a Santa Monica-based acrylic painter specializing in custom cat portraits that capture exactly who your cat is, not just what they look like. Each portrait is painted by hand on wood panel or canvas, with paint wrapped around the edges so it's ready to hang the moment it arrives.

I can paint any cat — any breed, any coat, any attitude. From a regal maine coon to a scruffy rescue tabby, if you have good reference photos I can bring them to life. And if you want to take it one step further, I also paint cats in tiny hats and accessories and it's as delightful as it sounds! Commissions are available for cat owners across Los Angeles and nationwide.

How to Commission a Custom Cat Portrait

Getting started is easy — here's how the process works:

1. Send me an email. Head to my contact page and tell me what you're envisioning. Let me know your cat’s breed, the size you'd like, and whether you want any clothing or accessories added. The more detail the better!

2. Share your photos. I'll need 2–3 high quality photos of your cat, ideally with them looking straight at the camera and in good natural light. The better the reference photo, the better I can capture their personality.

3. Confirm the details and pay your deposit. Once we've agreed on all the specifics, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit to get started. This secures your spot in my commission queue.

4. Watch it come to life. I'll send you progress photos throughout the painting process and check in to make sure everything looks right. You won't be left wondering, I keep communication open the whole way through.

5. Receive your finished portrait. Once complete and approved by you, your portrait is carefully packaged and shipped. Shipping costs are not included in the base price and will be confirmed at the time of your order. If you are local to Los Angeles, I also offer free delivery or pickup.

All prices below are for a plain cat with no clothing. To add clothing, a $50 extra charge will be added. Paintings can be done on canvas or wooden panel, whichever you prefer. Sizes below are in inches. Please reach out to discuss your specific project for an exact price estimate.

  • On average, a custom cat portrait takes 1–3 months to complete. The timeline depends on the size and complexity of the painting, as well as my current commission queue. I paint on weekends around a full-time job and two kids, so if you have a specific deadline like a birthday, holiday, or anniversary, let me know upfront and I'll tell you whether we can make it work.

  • Yes! I ship nationwide across the US. Every portrait is carefully packaged to arrive safely. Shipping costs are not included in the base price and will be confirmed when we finalize your order details.
